ISRAEL

Israel — a place dear to the heart of God, containing Jerusalem the holy city and the rich history of so many of the saints of the Bible story.  The land where Jesus was born, ministered, and was crucified. The birthplace of the church.

God has seemingly chosen the ordinary and lowly people of Israel as a special depository of His grace. How can God better show His grace than to promise it to those who crucified His Son, and are despised by so many who know not the ways of God.  Paul tells us that although they are enemies of our beloved Gospel, God is not yet finished with them!  Many of the true followers of faithful Abraham will yet be saved. Jesus says he has sheep of another fold, but someday the two will be one. Though she is currently scorned by the proud of the earth, we are to faithfully pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

AWAKE, AWAKE, O ZION

Awake, awake, O Zion, your glorious strength put on;
Exalt the True and Mighty One, Loose ev'ry captive bond!
Put on your beautiful garments, Jerusalem!
Awake, awake!  Your Savior reigns!

Arise!  Make bare the holy arm of Zion's conq'ring King;
The Lord redeems Jerusalem, Break forth in joy to sing!
Rejoice, you sons and daughters, His truth proclaim!
Awake, awake!  Your Savior reigns!

Shake off your dust, O holy one, Touch not the unclean thing;
In royal robes of righteousness Adore the glorious King!
In Him is grace excelling, His virtues claim!
Awake, awake!  Your Savior reigns!

Exalt the everlasting fame of Zion's King abroad
Till all the nations see at last Salvation of our God!
The promise of salvation, God's truth proclaim!
Awake, awake!  Your Savior reigns!

HEAR THE MUSIC ON THE HILLS OF ISRAEL

Hear the music on the hills of Israel,
     See the swaying in the sunshine of golden grain,
As My harvest from the nations, from distant lands,
     Comes together in Israel again.

          I will bring back My children to Me,
               I'll anoint David My king,
           And you'll never by uprooted: I'll plant you here,
               When My exiles to Israel I bring.

To the vineyards on the hills of Israel
     Come the sweetness to the wine of the vine we laud;
For My desert as a garden will thrive and bloom,
    In the fragrance, the flowers of God.

          I will bring back My Israel to Me,
               Back to their homeland again,
          In the place that I have promised I'll plant them there,
               In the year of the sweet latter rain.

The rebuilding of the towns of Israel
     Will be glorious for My people's delight at last;
I will gather to My temple My own again
     When the time of their sorrow is past;

          I will bring home My children to Me,
               I will show Israel My Son;
          In the homeland that I gave them I'll plant them there,
               And with Israel I'll ever be one.
